I make this blog post tonight with a heavy- heart. I feel like the last week has been marked by tragedy and hardships. Pain in this world is very evident to me. Brain tumors, broken relationships, rape, car accidents, death. This world is a very broken place- and this week it has been quite evident in the lives of those all around me. What I want most is to take pain away from people. But what I want more than that is for people to know this world is not where our hope is.
At our christmas eve service at my home church tonight we sang this song:
Love is raining down on the world tonight
There's a presence here I can tell
God is in us, God is for us, God is with us, Emmanuel
He's the Savior we have been praying for
In our humble hearts He will dwell
God is in us, God is for us, God is with us, Emmanuel
God is in us, God is for us, God is with us, Emmanuel
He's the Savior we have been praying for
In our humble hearts He will dwell
God is in us, God is for us, God is with us, Emmanuel
The meaning of Christmas- God sent his son down to earth. God wasn't content to just try and reach a hand down, he sent his son- to come get us, to rescue us. And thats where my heart is this Christmas- hurting for friends who are hurting. But wanting people to know the TRUTH of God's love, truth and peace more than ever.
So my prayer is that this Christmas, maybe for the first time, you may know the true meaning of this season- Jesus coming to earth. Allowing us to be in a personal relationship with the God of the universe.
He loves you where you are. He wants a relationship with you. This is not how he meant the world to be. Trust in Him.
Thats all i got tonight. Merry Christmas from snowy Baltimore.
